  1. Moon Morocco was an excellent resource for our recent trip to Morocco. It included more information than we even needed but it was very comprehensive and well organized. Morocco is such an amazing place and this book helped us capture so much of the ambience, history, and culture. I would definitely recommend it!

  2. This is not the guide to buy if you are self-guiding in Morocco, as it does not have a lot of hotel/restaurant recommendations. But if you are on a guided tour, it is the best and has more info on the country and what to see (and why to see it) than most other guides that I’ve looked at. It is up-to-date/post-covid, too.

  3. World travelers, look no further than this visually stunning guidebook for planning your trip to Morocco. Whether you dream of shopping the souks and dining in cosmopolitan cities like Casablanca and Rafat, wandering the Medieval medinas of Fez and Marrakech, surfing on the Atlantic coast or sandboarding in the Sahara, there is something for everyone in Morocco. As an anthropologist, outdoor enthusiast, and amateur stargazer, reading this gorgeously illustrated guidebook made me long to explore the country’s UNESCO world heritage sites, hike through the High Atlas Mountains, and go glamping under the stars at the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi.A resident of Morocco for nearly a decade, Lucas Peters covers every inch of the country with incredible details and sound advice on lodging, food, activities, and off-the-beaten-path adventures. He includes practical tips for travelers on basic conversational Arabic, visitor etiquette, and respect for Islamic culture and traditions. This meticulously organized, exquisitely written guidebook is a must for adventurous travelers.

  4. This book just wowed me! Wonderful itineraries, gorgeous photos and chuck full of wonderful places to visit! But this book! It doe not disappoint

  5. This book has everything that you need to help prepare you to visit Morocco! It is thorough, comprehensive, well-organized, and visually appealing. The photos are gorgeous, the information is incredibly helpful, and I can’t wait to go!

  6. This is a thorough, insightful, comprehensive overview of what to expect in a trip to Morocco, covering everything from practical tips to fun things to do and places to stay/eat. It’s proved very useful in planning an upcoming trip to Morocco. Mr. Peters many years living and traveling in the country make him a go-to expert and must-read for anyone planning a trip.

  7. This book is an outstanding combination of history with travel information. Beautiful pictures and nice maps. Lots of food, lodging and excursion ideas.

  8. In preparing for my trip to Morocco I reviewed Morocco travel guide books at my local B&N bookstore and found that the Moon Morocco guide to be the most comprehensive in terms of insight into local culture, starred attractions, suggested itineraries, and most important, descriptions of Morocco’s diverse regions. I especially appreciated it because it provided many Arabic print translations for many ‘off the beaten track’ locations. I also appreciated that the author has lived in Morocco for over 20 years, has traveled throughout the different regions, and provides excellent, colorful photographs. I tend to takeself-guided International trips, and found this book to be the best in terms of planning itineraries, being a good guide for immersion into local culture (including excellent descriptions of local cooking classes for delicious Moroccan cuisine), and the BEST Index.Highly recommended.

  9. Lucas Peters’s 2023 Moon Morocco guide provides both the new traveler and the Morocco-experienced traveler with needed guidance on a country-wide level and presents fascinating new experiences. The organization of regions and specific interests is a great organizational tool. For example, Atlantic coast exploration from Essaouira to Agadir with surfing, yoga, and bird-watching possibilities. A more in-depth exploration of possibilities in Meknes and Quarzazate is also welcome. This book will make an exceptional addition to the library of a new Morocco traveler as they plan their Morocco journey with or without a guide.

  10. Engaged in Moroccan-US relations since I was a Peace Corps volunteer serving in the early 1970s with continuing periodic visits I was given a promo copy of the new (Nov 2023) third edition of this book to review. The author is an ex-pat resident since 2009 and local tour operator. Covering the classic touristic experiences well, the book also does a good job of counseling for special interests such as surfing, hiking, birding, rock climbing and cooking classes. History, cultural context, illustrative tours and circuits, World Heritage sites, music, film and internet resources are covered. A challenge in hard cover publishing of tourist guides is validating changes from earlier editions and updating information. The material presented seems current with some small exceptions such as the the Rabat Chellah being closed for renovations since the pandemic and the American Legation in Tangier now open on Sundays. Restaurant and accommodation recommendations cover a modest range of choices, but the traveler may be better served by the booking sites. At 550 pages the tome, IMHO, is best viewed at home for orientation, trip planning and research leads. The Kindle version with a smart phone, SIM card or hotel wifi should satisfy the mobile traveler.
