Lauren Kane Collett –
I was weary buying this product since so many other reviews mentioned the smell being unbearable. I noticed a smell but not exactly the “barn” smell others mentioned. It smelled more like the stain or oils used to dye the leather. Honestly I could have been able to live with the smell I hung it up in the garage and even only after a few hours it seemed to have aired out. The biggest issue for me was that it seemed like the die was still wet, the box it came in was oil stained from the pouf and I noticed that it left dye on my hands. Definitely not ok to keep it it’s staining everything it’s touching!Edited: the customer service was actually really incredible for this product. I was refunded and had the item replaced. It was shipped very promptly and the replacement is in much better shape than the original I was sent. I am changing my one star rating to a four because of this.

I got this to replace another leather pouf from Morocco that had finally split open after almost 10 years of hard wear and tear (think kids jumping on it regularly). I was pleased to find that this one is similarly high quality at less than 1/3 of the price of my original pouf, and expect it will last quite some time as well. Unlike reviews of some other poufs I read, this one did not have a smell at all, and came with stuffing instructions. It was very easy to stuff – I used cotton batting – and the zipper was high quality and really easy to close, even when stuffed very full. You will need to put more stuffing than you might think into it in order to keep a nice round shape with no divots. Only one minor nit – it had a couple of small (1/8″) round stained spots on the bottom, but since it’s on the bottom you’d never see it. Still, especially for the price, I would recommend this seller and pouf, and am thinking of buying another!

I just got my pouf today. The estimated time for delivery supposed to take 3 more days but it got here early which is the plus. The pouf itself is leather , good quality and yes it is have the leather kind of smell but it is not strong at all. You really need to put your nose close to it like an inch to smell it. The color is so rich and just like in the product picture online. The whole pouf I can confirm that it is handmade for sure and it is professional one.Only one complain is I didn’t know at first that this product is only the outer part and I have to fill the inside pouf by myself. But in the box they do have some kind of manufactured kind of thing to explain it. So it is fine for me. I filled the pouf with the old clothes and it is all sets and it is perfect. For the size it is just correct size for me to use as ottoman and in the same time could be stool. I’m very happy with my purchase. Also, FYI -I just saw this same pouf selling right now at Westelm for $299 but I think that might be the ready filled one. Anyway this is much better save A LOT of money!

I like the love the look of it and it seems like it will last a long time quality wise. I get compliments on it and I like how neutral it is. To remedy the zipper issue people talked about, I wrapped masking tape around the pull so that it won’t scratch my floors. I stuffed it with old towels and clothes. It can easily be moved around for use in multiple areas. There was a little odor, nothing overwhelming, more like a natural odor vs. chemical smells. It has mostly gone away (like I’d have to put my nose on top of it to notice it). People talked about spots, there are a couple, but not enough to detract from the beauty of it, it is a natural product and nature isn’t always perfect. I was hesitant to purchase because of some of the above mentioned issues, but I’m glad I went for it.

Pros: Amazing quality! They will be used. For kids to sit on, adults to rest feet on, with a circular tray to set a glass of wine on. These are wonderful. It’s like adding searing without taking up space. They are strong and well woven unique in pattern and the firmness is up to you.Con: you have to stuff it yourself. So break out those throws you don’t have the heart to throw away and stuff them with it or older comforters. Even fill them with a bunch of pillows you don’t use but fill it to the max if you’re like me and like a firm ottoman. Use throws for firm blanket, pillows for softer plush throw. Matches with everything. The zipper will be harder to zip the more you stuff it and you’ll want to stuff it well beyond max.Buy it it’s worth it once stuffed. Stuffing isn’t pricey and you can be thrifty about it similar stuffed versions cot a mint so go for it.

I was looking for a smaller pouf-style ottoman and thought this looked a lot nicer than some of the Indian style sari poufs. The goat leather used to make these is of good quality, the zipper at the bottom of the cover is very sturdy, and the stitching used is very thick. I bought some cheap standard/queen pillows to use as stuffing rather than polyfill or old clothes. I used 6 and have waffled on whether or not I need a 7th, as the firmness is close to ideal for me.As others have mentioned in their reviews, stuffing the sides and then the middle of the cover might be the best approach in terms of ease and evenness. Additionally, the quality in comparison to what you might see in the RH magazine or showroom is the same, but this is considerably less. The RH alternative to this Moroccan pouf does not have the bottom zipper, so it’s not user-refillable and costs at least twice as much depending on what you spend for filler.Lastly, the leather smell is present, but is very mild. It’s part of the tanning process used to make leather goods. If you want something synthetic (and in my mind inferior), go ahead, but this is a great quality product.

Couldn’t be happier! The pouf itself is beautiful. It probably had been sitting in the package for a little while since there was some mild creasing to the middle sides, but that went away after it was aired out and stuffed. I had a few clean rags that I was able to stuff along the top to make it less more firm and then used about 5lbs poly-fil to firm it up. Now that it’s settled, there are probably a few gaps that I still need to stuff a little bit more in. I got a 10 pound bag of poly-fil per somebody else’s recommendation, but that seems to be too much, probably because of the rags. I didn’t notice a bad smell as some people stated. When I opened it up, there was a fresh leather smell, but that just needed to be aired out, and after it was stuffed and zipped up, there is absolutely no smell.I love it! Got a wonderful quality product at a fraction of the price for being willing to stuff it myself.

**Updated Review – once it’s completely aired out, it’s a cute and durable product. Took me almost 2 months to air it outside before the smell completely went away. I initially left a one star review but bumped it up to 4 after the smell went away. If you’re one of the lucky ones, you may get one that doesn’t smell. If you’re like me, just let it air out outside until the smell is completely gone. By the way, I stuffed 4 queen size fleece blankets inside to shape it.**I ordered this pouf despite the negative reviews regarding the strong odor. Some said that they had very minimal or no odor so I was really hoping that mine would be one of the lucky ones. Unfortunately, my came with, not only the strong odor, but parts of the leather were still wet with oil (?). I was afraid that it might stain my carpet so I took a white cloth and wiped it down and the cloth was stained with an orange/brown color. I left it in my living room overnight and the next morning it stunk up my entire downstairs area that I had to put it outside in my covered patio to air out. I brought it back in after 24 hours and the smell was still strong so I put it back out again. Nine days later of airing out and the smell has barely faded. I have family over for the holidays so I can’t bring it back in and have it stink up my place. I’m not sure how to get rid of this smell. I would like to keep it if the smell goes away because the quality is great and the zipper is strong. I stuffed it with 4 blankets and it looks great. Had it come dry and without the stench, I would’ve given it 5 stars.Another thing is that I tried to order this the second week of December. When I added it to my cart it was about $59, the very next day the price shot up to over $70, maybe because of the high demand for the holidays. I was regretful that I didn’t order it the day before so to pay a pretty high price, I would’ve liked to receive the item and be able to enjoy it without doing all this airing out stuff. I really think that maybe this particularly item I received was just made and was not given sufficient time to dry and air out before shipping.

This product was exactly what I wanted, a smallish foot stool that can double for low seating on occasion. I was a bit reluctant to order because of the reviews about odor, but there was not any offensive odor at all, and I am pretty sensitive to smells. The product was delivered quickly, even in the holiday season. There is a small round stain or spot in the leather but it is on the bottom, not worth returning. Be aware that you will need to stuff way more filling than you think, but this is personal choice as to how full you want the ottoman. Overall I am happy with this purchase.

Everyone has seen this on Urban Outfitters and wanted it at some point. I’m sure it is one of their most popular items because it looks so boho and well made. I think Urban has it stuffed, but it’s SO EXPENSIVE, like $100!? This is way better and I’m sure it’s better quality material as well! It does have a little smell to it, kinda like an animal…so that’s questionable but I guess it’s because this is goat leather? I’m not sure. The smell faded in a day. I put a sheet in here, a pillow on the bottom, two huge sherpa blankets, and a duvet cover I didn’t use any more but didnt want to throw out. Absolutely beautiful outcome, It isn’t lumpy at all and it’s very comfy to prop yourseful up on if you want to sit on the floor. So happy I got this instead of the UO one.

This is one of my best purchases on Amazon. It came with a strong odour.Unzip it and place a cup of baking soda with 12-20 drops of your favourite essential oil inside (I used orange essential oil). Zip it up and keep it overnight. If you don’t have baking soda, use a couple of paper towels with essential oil.The inside odour will have mostly dissipated. Then stuff it with whatever you choose. I lined the sides with old clothes and the inside with plastic bags full of shredded paper, then topped it with more clothes. The other one currently holds extra pillows. Old clothes + shredded paper gives the necessary comfort and firmness without being too heavy.Once it is stuffed, wipe down the outside with leather cleaner and conditioner with a few more drops of essential oil. I use Bick 4 (it does not discolour the leather or stitching) with orange essential oil. It is easier to apply the conditioner/cleaner when the pouf is full. After a few hours of applying the product there is no odour, plus it makes the leather more supple.

Love these poufs! I ordered 2 for my kids to use as chairs at the coffee table and for ottomans. They are well made and are a beautiful addition to our family room. It took a huge wool blanket a couple smaller blankets, 2 memory foam pillows and a king flannel sheet set to stuff it nice and full. I just used a bunch of things I was going to donate otherwise so it worked out great. So the smell is real! Think barn full of goat poo! BUT I found a fast and natural solution that worked great. I used a vinegar and lemon/rosemary essential oil spray all over the outside and set it in the sun all day, I resprayed it again a few hours later and left it in the sun the rest of the day. I then used melted coconut oil mixed with more essential oils and rubbed it all over the outside and buffed it in the leather. The oil made the leather look great, smell great and made it super soft. Totally worth it if you’re willing to work the smell away.

So as described these came unstuffed. However, I read others reviews and people mentioned old clothes and old towels to fill them with. But, I had neither – Such a dilemma :-). Another reviewer stated they filled theirs with 10lbs of “Poly-Fil”. So that is what I decided to buy. I found a great deal at the Local Jo-Ann Fabrics for 2lb bags. So I purchased 10 bags. So I would have 5 bags (10lbs) for each Ottoman. Well the 1st one took all 5 bags and it is nice & Firm like I wanted. The second is also nice & firm. However, it only handled 3 bags (6 lbs). It is smaller in diameter than the other.I am not very happy about this. However, is it enough to return? No. But, it is enough to recommend that people not order 2 if you want looking to have a matching set.I wish the pics could accurately depict the difference in size. However they are beautiful. But be forewarned they may be different sizes if you order more than 1.I hope the seller reads this and understands this is not ok.However, as you can see the leather is beautiful and so is the design. It is exactly, in design, what I was wanting. There is a odor but not pungent – just needs to sit in the back hall for a night & it will be fine.Additonal note: if you want a softer poof simply add less Poly-Fil.Hope this helped

I received this leather pouf a month ago and I’m happy with the look, quality and construction but the smell is unbearable! I’ve been alternating between putting it outside for a few hours and keeping it in the garage to air it out and it’s not improving much. This isn’t a leather smell – it’s heavy perfume. I assume this is because of the older reviews about bad leather smell. So now they’re spraying them with awful perfume to cover the leather smell? I bought this for my baby’s nursery and if the smell doesn’t go away before the baby is born I may have to get rid of this. I can’t handle the smell in my house. It’s overpowering and I can smell it from the other room!
R. N. Wolf –
I have bought three of these poufs. A few things to note….The first pouf was a dark mahogany brown, completely different from the color shown in the description. My wife liked the color so much that she asked me to order a second one, despite the strong smell of cheap perfume, which I thought would dissipate. But after several days’ ventilation, it didn’t, and we both felt that the odor would never be acceptable, so after ordering the second one, I returned the first. No problem. The color of the second one matches the color of the description photo, and the only odor is the pleasant faint smell of leather, which itself was much thinker than the leather of the first. Since we wanted two poufs, I placed a third order, which has resulted in a pouf that matches the second one in all ways. Thumbs up!My only complaints now are that no promised filling instructions were included, and when we fill the poufs, they turn into balls, not ottomans. So if anyone has a suggestion for flattening them out, short of filling them with little material, I’d appreciate hearing from you. One solution I’m considering is inserting a circular piece of plywood or masonite beneath the fill.

These poufs are fantastic. They look great in every room and I’m sure we will get a lot of use out of them as both footstools and additional casual seating for family get togethers. Gotta knock off a star due to the horrible smell that really hasn’t dissipated much over the last week. It’s a strange smell, kind of like they used a strange leather polish to get it to that lovely dark brown?? I stuck mine in the garage for a few days, Febreezed the heck out of it, and although it’s slightly improved, I can still detect the odor when I walk in a room. Hopefully it will lessen over time. Otherwise, great looking! Stuffed mine with stuffing from two older poufs. Kind of a pain and a mess. Took about an hour, but love how they look!!

Very cute accent piece! I looked for a long time to decide on which pouf to order, and I decided on this one because it was much cheaper and had pretty good reviews. The craftsmanship is wonderful, the zipper seems very sturdy, and the leather is very pretty as well. I don’t sense a strong smell like others have mentioned in their reviews. I stuffed it with old pillows and blankets, and the rest with poly fill to make it very plump.HOWEVER, I did decide to knock off 1 star because the coloring is slightly different that what I thought I was ordering. I ordered the dark brown option and this one seems to be more on the tan side. I still like the coloring, so I’m going to keep it, but not what I was expecting.

So I had been looking at these Moroccan poufs for quite some time, but just had a hard time thinking about spending $200 or more dollars on one. I stumbled across this one randomly on Amazon and saw that it had a ton of great reviews and a ton of pictures and that you could easily stuff it with whatever you had around the house. I realized that buying this unstuffed was so much cheaper, and I happened to have some random old blankets so I just threw those in there. It looks awesome, definitely gives you that boho vibe if that’s what you’re going for, and it seems really well made. I’ve even since the first purchase bought another one for my bedroom. I would highly recommend this item to anyone who’s thinking about adding a Moroccan poof to your home decor!

An item that looks great AND is very useful always equals a “win/win”. And that’s exactly what this pouf is – a winner!I’m impressed with the materials, craftsmanship and overall quality. The silk cording looks to be of very good quality – and the leather looks very natural and inviting. The leather is supple, yet appears to be sturdy (I didn’t realize how tough goat leather could be – I thought it was thinner). The zipper also seems to be very sturdy. There was the slightest odor – not really offensive but not great either. I threw in a couple of dryer sheets to take care of that until the leather odor dissipates. Problem solved. And – by the way – we had a lot of fun stuffing it with old clothes, etc. Wasn’t expecting that to be fun – but inexplicably it was.Overall, I think the brown leather has a very natural/earthy look combined with that unique Moroccan flair. And in just one evening it is already a highly popular footrest for the family. Love it!
Laurel –
This looks exactly like the advertised photos. Seems to be of very good quality. Some people mentioned the smell in their reviews, I didn’t think it was too strong, and I honestly like the smell of freshly treated leather. The smell did linger throughout the house for about two days but seems to be gone now. If it bothers you, I would say just leave it in a shed or garage for a couple days and it should be fine. I like that the leather patches are dyed separately so there’s a bit of color variegation. Thanks to someone else’s review here on Amazon, I found 20 pound bag of poly-fil at Walmart for $27. A bit of advice, when you open the poly fill, make sure you take it out of the box first, It expands like an automatic blowup liferaft. It doesn’t seem like there’s anyway that will all fit in the pouf, but it does. Stuff the whole 20 pound bag in. All in all, I love my new pouf. I would highly recommend.

This really reminds me of my hippy days when everybody had one of these, so I couldn’t resist getting it. The leather is real, zipper is sturdy and design is just like the old one I used to have. Just be prepared to unfold and take about a week or little less to air it out, because the tanning odor is extremely strong. I also had to keep my little dog away from it …. she acted like she was going to attack it, for some weird reason. As said previously, It does not include any stuffing and you can use old towels, sheets, clothes, etc. I’m going to check out Joanne’s, tho, and see how expensive buy-in the really thick and firm foam and cut it up into small pieces, then make that the core and wrap in old towels, etc. I really like it and can’t wait to use it in my living room — very vintage looking to me.

I absolutely LOVE this pouf! A similar (also made in Morocco and looks identical but comes stuffer) pouf sells at West Elm for $300! I initially purchased 10 lbs of poly fill from Joann Fabrics for $35 (after the 20% coupon) but when the pouf came, the instructions said that the manufacturer recommends this be stuffed with towels, rags, clothes, etc. I shoved a twin sized comforter, 4 blankets, 6 curtain panels, and a towel into this pouf, and it’s absolutely perfect! This is the perfect height to be used as a foot rest and our daughters love laying over this to watch TV (and it spares by couch cushions from being thrown on the floor)! I highly recommend this product and am considering purchasing another!
Holly M. –
I ordered the (mustard) yellow color and it’s perfect! Very well made and just beautiful. ZERO nasty smell just a bit of leather smell if you stick your nose really close to the opening. As it should be.I purchased the exact same item 6 years ago (different seller) for a lot more $ and it unfortunately had that DREADED smell. This is before Amazon started free returns and since I purchased it filled, it was way too expensive to return myself. I tried everything I could find on the internet and wasted a lot more money trying to get rid of the STENCH. You could smell it as soon as you walked in to my home and the closer you got, the more unbearable it was. The thing ended up living outside on my balcony for the next few years. At some point about 7 months later after a lot of rain and sun, the smell became faint but was still there. I was extremely hesitant to ever buy another one. What I just learned is that the smell comes from the leather tanning process in Morocco, where these are from. The “cheap” budget way to tan leather is as follows: It begins with raw animal skins being soaked in a mixture of cow urine, pigeon poop, quicklime, salt and water. The quicklime helps to remove the hair from the skins, while the acid in the urine and pigeon poop softens the skins. They are kept soaking in massive vats. In short, these things are permeated with disgusting processing materials and if the vendor lacks the machinery to properly treat them, then you will end up with the most unpleasant surprise of your life when yours arrives. It is very unlikely you can remedy the problem so you are much better off returning it.One of the BIGGEST flaws of the Amazon Review system is that often times you are “reviewing” products from different vendors and often times you are “reading” reviews of items from different vendors. However, the genius that is Amazon has finally provided us with an IMPRESSIVE hassle-free return policy on almost everything. Use it to your advantage if negative reviews have made you hesitant. I also think the newer policy cuts down the amount of paid-for fake reviews out there. In closing I will say that my Pouf was perfectly packed in a nice brown drawstring bag from Marrakesh Gallery (with tips on filling/cleaning & a cute burlap keychain), it is beautifully made, and also an absolutely outstanding value for the quality and price. I would highly highly recommend!I will update with photos but my cat is currently napping inside of it :)Also FYI. When you fill these properly they will not have any indentations whatsoever. They will look just like the photos. When I removed the poly-fill from my last one it completely filled up TWO 12 gallon trash bags! The fiber had zero color transfer or mold on it even though it had been outside in the elements for years. They are very solidly constructed.I plan on storing seasonal blankets in my new one but I will first put them in storage bags. That way I can freely stuff in any gaps with poly-fill. If you access yours daily or frequently, that probably won’t work for you.

Ok so the blue one I got must have been one of the stinkier ones. I can deal with off gassing from most things. I had this is the garage for about a week and it did nothing to dissipate the smell. Its not the outside that smells, its the inside. I wasn’t going to try baking soda or essential oils or anything cause let’s be real I’m 8 months pregnant and I don’t have time for that. Its a real shame cause the construction is solid and its a beautiful decor piece. I even stuffed it and put it in my nursery optimistically thinking if I just have it zipped the smell won’t permeate. Well it does obviously cause there are gaps between the stitching and the interior that lets the inside smell leak out, which permeated the whole room. Even my husband said it had to go. So return it is. I actually like animal smell. I like leather smell. For petes sake I like barn/manure smell, I spend a lot of time on a cow ranch. But I just couldn’t deal with this. Using an old ottoman in the nursery instead. Again. A shame because its beautiful.

This is such a lovely pouf, I am happy that I gave it a chance. The craftsmanship is great, and the color is a beautiful deep burgundy. Stuffing it was very easy, but it is amazing how much goes inside! It took me: one full size down comforter, four queen size bed sheets, one queen size bed pillow, two blankets, five small cushions, one old medium sized dog bed… and a few medium sized towels. Wow! It needs a lot of stuffing, so that it becomes really shock full and firm. That’s how it should feel. I think that it will maybe take another few more items, once all this filling is settled. I love sitting on it, it is a very healthy way to sit, as it comes close to squatting. We Westerners have lost that good habit, because of all the high chairs. So, not only are these healthy seats, they also are beautiful, ornamental in any room. See my picture to convince yourself! I’ll go back and find another one in a harmonizing color to match this sometime soon.Oh, and as for the supposed odor (as in bad odor) that a few folks have mentioned: there is none whatsoever on the one I got. Yes, it smells like leather, but in a good way. Leather is a natural, organic matter, and therefor it does have a scent. This one is not in any way unpleasant, and one has to really sniff it close up in order to perceive it. Just like a pair of leather gloves, same level! If you found my review helpful, thanks for letting me know!

I have become somewhat hesitant to order more expensive items from Amazon because sometimes the description is wayyy better than the actual items. These poufs very much match the description. They are high quality and hold a ton of storage! I’m not going to buy extra stuffing when I’ve got so many extra blankets, pillows and linens that I needed storage space for anyway. So these are dual purpose!I’m very, very pleased with this purchase! I have closely examined the two I purchased and there is not a single flaw. I aired them out for a few days, per instructions, since there was a slight odor from the genuine leather. These are beautiful and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a high quality pouf.

it’s big and holds about 4 or 5 sheet sets, some old throw pillows, a blanket, a bunch of extra odd pieces of clothing, and it’s still not in full pouf mode. i may just get some cotton batting to fill in the gaps and round it out. it is more of a powder blue color and does not have the cool patina or varied shading like the photo implies. the embroidery is a nylon pure white fiber of some kind. it doesn’t have an aged or unique look, but it’s big and heavy and over time with lots of butts sitting on it, will probably begin to look aged on its own. 🙂 it is not comfy, but i stuffed it with sheets and clothes, so it’s as soft as a pile of folded sheets would be. i have no idea how much cotton batting you would have to buy to fill it.
Rebekka A –
Overall I was very impressed with how good this looks! We stuffed it with old blankets (something I was doubtful would look good) and it’s great! The only thing I’d warn is that if you have kids it’s not particularly durable. Ours got just a small amount of water on it and it’s got a dark watermark now. Just the nature of the leather but something to keep in mind.

This was scheduled to ship several weeks after I ordered it. Once I realized it did not come stuffed, tried to cancel the day after I ordered. Next day I get notice that it’s shipped. The color I ordered was sandstone, the one I got is as white as snow. It’s from Morocco or somewhere similar so returning isn’t an option. It’s a great piece, I just didn’t like that they sent it quickly, soon as I tried to cancel it. When I purchased it, it said it wouldn’t arrive for several weeks. I don’t know if I actually got sandstone or if they sent white, nothing on it states the color. Beware it does take a ton of stuff to get it full and firm. I filled mine with blankets, old clothes, etc. Great way to purge the closet. lol.

A good, sturdy well-made, soft and pliable genuine leather casing which, when stuffed, can be made as firm as desired by the user, for use as a foot/ / leg rest, or as an additional temporary “seat”.Yes, it smells of leather, of which it is made, but, once stuffed and zippered up, this smell becomes barely noticeable.I have ordered, and received, a second pouf, and am thoroughly satisfied with the products. I had been looking for leather poufs for some time before deciding to look “on line” and have no complaints with these Marrakech Gallery Moroccan Pouf Covers, and find the price very reasonable.

I spent my early 20’s living in Morocco and always regretted not buying a pouf. This is just exactly like the ones I admired in the medinas, I couldn’t be happier. The dark brown is darker than advertised, but given that they’re hand tanned a little variation is to be expected. I don’t especially mind but if you wanted something lighter plan accordingly.A lot of reviews mentioned the smell. It’s really not bad, to me it’s sort of a natural soapy smell not a goat farm as some have described, but if it bothers you let it air out for a few days and you should be fine.I stuffed it with four pillows which filled it up, but after two days of use the pillows settled so I added another one. You can pretty much store an entire linen closet or winter wardrobe in this thing!

Love love love this ! Favorite part of my living room. My husband surprisingly uses it a lot to sit down on while he puts his shoes on because it’s nice and low to the ground. Great to use for my leg rest and the kids love jumping on top of this when they play in the living room. Beware if you don’t want your leather “ruined” by your kids, Reconsider buying it?… Since it’s real leather if you drop water or the kids get their saliva all over it or juice etc. it shows water marks like stains on the pouf. I supposed if you get an oil to upkeep your leather ottoman just like any other items such as shoes or jacket the oil will lubricate the leather to where the water stains will most likely not be visible or hardly noticeable. I have not yet done this but I plan on it because I really want this to last long. Someone else mentioned just like any real authentic item there will always be flaws but that’s part of the beauty of it. Was I upset the first time my kids “ruined “ my pouf- yes but I quickly got over it. Kids will be kids and honestly shouldn’t be a big deal. It still retains its beauty and I love that caramel brown leather color. I put a bunch of blankets and old kids clothes inside to help fill it up. It really does hold alot and over time real leather stretches so it can hold even more. Mine got a little bit saggy since it started to stretch but I just added more clothes inside. It’s gorgeous just buy it, who cares if you get water stains on it. No regrets here!

We got 2 of these for our living room and they look exactly like the West Elm ones (pretty sure it’s the same manufacturer and West Elm just marks their prices the heck up). Yes, there is a smell that will linger if you don’t do anything (and by this I mean letting them “air out”), BUT if you follow legitimately ANY of the recommendations in these reviews, the smell will disappear. It took an assortment of 5-7 old sheets and blankets (ranging from topsheets, to old throw blankets, to a full down duvet) for us to fill each, but as most of these reviews say, you can fill them with whatever you want insofar as you have A LOT of whatever stuffing you’re using. Cheers to the pouf life!

There is a leather odor to the poof. I aired it out for a few days and the odor has slowly disappeared. Fantastic quality though and looks great in my apartment. Worth every penny! It didn’t come with filling so I used a bunch of old throw pillows to stuff it. I purchased the dark brown leather and personally like the varigated tones. High quality stitching. And a well oiled zipper. You might want to be cautious with the surface the poof will sit on since the leather has been oiled.

Thick! I mean this thing is well made and sturdy!!! It’s a big size. Perfect foot stool or even little seat for bedroom or living room. This space is part of our bedroom and I love this thing. Looks great, string leather and well made. Great strong good zipper too (I was surprised about that actually it’s very very well made). I store my 16 year old daughter stuffed animals inside; maybe one day when I have grand children I can get out her old stuffed animals.I want another one! Made my this company!!

One major flaw is that the zipper scratches the floor! Another issue I had was that it’s so nice and big, that even after 3 queen size comforters, it sank when a 100pound kid sat on it! Apart from that, it’s beautiful with a very nice pleather exterior. Really wanted to make it work!!! Hoping to be able to return it.
Kathryn –
So I absolutely love this, by far one of the best additions to my living room! But after I stuffed it and tried to zip it close the zipper(the part you hold onto and actually pull) totally busted off. Thankfully the zipper itself was fine, so instead of returning it I just stuck a few Bobby pins where the zipper handle thing(I don’t know the name obviously lol) used to be and that worked fine! But other then that I love it!
JakeJake –
Very well made. Zipper is double stitched with enough of the leather cover pulled past the sew-line to prevent the material coming lose. Stitching is sharp on the cover as well. No loose stitches anywhere. I filled mine with the blood of my enemies. Not really, but it did hold three king sized pillows and an old electric blanket. Only ordered one to make sure it was something I was going to like, and I do, so will be ordering another one. This is going to be around for quite some time.

I looked at this item for a while and didn’t purchase initially because I wasn’t sure what I would use to fill it. Fast-forward to last month when I was shredding files for work. I figured I could use some of the shredded paper confetti to fill out the ottoman, and it worked! I added an old throw and I love it!!
JMV –
I changed my original 1 star to a 5 star. I do think that the manufacturers should make it more prominent that the Ottoman is without stuffing – and yes they did acknowledge this which is why I’m changing my review. All the pictures show a fully stuffed ottoman and the visual is more powerful than the written word alas. A demonstration video would be awesome. I stuffed with old pillows and it is just perfect. Beautiful really and although initially disappointed, I am ordering a third ottoman now that my expectations are adjusted.
mmeresearch –
I sent back two of these poufs before I could find a color that worked. The colors seemed different online, one too orange, one too multicolored. The pouf had no odor, or a very faint one. The leather seems very thick, and the craftsmanship is wonderful. The zipper is completely heavy duty. It took 6 small throw pillows to fill it up, and even then it is not completely full. I love it.

There is absolutely no smell at all other than what is expected from a leather product, so not sure what foul smell people are talking about. We bought 2 poufs and 2 boxes of the 10 lb Poly-Fil Premium Polyester Fiber Fill for the stuffing (from Jo-Ann Fabrics). Just for reference on how much each pouf can hold, we managed to stuff each pouf with 10 lbs worth of fill and it looks just right. The poufs are a perfect amount of firmness and I love that after sitting on it, it comes back to the original shape. Highly recommend!
Tee Taylor –
I don’t like that you have to stuff it yourself and for the price that it is. I do have to say that quality is nice and very durable.. just don’t work for me.
Elisa –
Absolutely beautiful! I just don’t know what to do about the smell. I left it in my garage for over a week and it still smells bad. I decided to stuff it today with a bunch of old goose down inserts that I had. Turned out great! I even put some dryer sheets inside. I just hope the smell goes away.
Jama Pitman –
Easy to stuff. Leather is a bit dry but I used leather conditioner to soften it up. Looks nice. The dyes in the leather do bleed a bit when you condition it. Not an issue just something to be aware of if you try to condition it.
SophieSophie –
It’s a beautiful product and I couldn’t be happier with it. I suggest taking any blankets, pillows, or sheets you no longer use to stuff it.
dbi –
Ordered the “yellow” and glad it was closer to a golden mustard color than a standard yellow – so it was true to color from the web photos. The stitching is beautiful and the zippered bottom is sturdy and well made. The leather is soft and pliable and had no odors from the dye, etc.I would have loved to reuse old materials to stuff, but I ended up going the super easy route by stuffing with memory foam pieces. Each took about 7.5 pounds of foam (or about 3 cubic feet) – just placed the vacuum packed foam straight out of the package in the poof , let it expand, and then fluffed inside the poof to make sure it got separated and filled evenly. This approach gives the poof a nice filled look, but also has some give from the memory foam so it’s not uncomfortable. So even with buying filling, this purchase ends up being a GREAT deal compared to the ones that come stuffed and often have shipping fees as well. A fun way to add a pop of color, ethnic charm, and support hand crafted work.

Just bought my second one of these leather poufs. The leather is of a decent quality, the stitches tight, the color accurate to the pictures. I bought these for use as extra seating around the coffee table on game nights while our 4 kids are home for the holidays. My husband also uses it as an ottoman/foot rest while sitting in his reading chair. I collect old down duvets from thrift stores and use them to stuff the pouf so that they are somewhat soft and comfortable for your hiney.
Breanna NortonBreanna Norton –
This was the perfect piece to complete my living room. I packed it full of extra blankets I have and need to pack a few more to make it full but so far so good! One down side is the smell. Walked into my apartment and could smell it right away but hoping it will air out after some time!
W. Willis –
This ottoman is beautifully handcrafted and very comfortable. I haven’t had it long, but it seems to be very sturdy, the leather is durable and the stitching seems to be too.I stuffed it with a couple of old pillows, an old blanket and a bunch of old towels that had been in my linen closet for years. A perfect use for them since they can’t be donated.
Sharon L Flaten –
I would recommend this product to anyone who wants extra storage for linens and blankets, etc. There seems to be no end to how much can be stuffed into one of these poufs. It is well made with a strong zipper, and I know I can safely sit on it.
Kelly WhiteKelly White –
This is the Dark Brown color. It’s the perfect color for our sofa and chairs. I stuffed 7 standard size bed pillows in it in case you are wondering….I couldn’t believe it would hold them all but it does. I’d totally buy it again.
MoneraMonera –
Very happy with the product. Sizing is perfect not too Igor small. Love the stitches. I was afraid it might smell because of the material but it packaged very nicely and it doesn’t have any smell.Perfect for my nursery.Again very pleased with it.

This poof is exactly what I was looking for. I love the look of the leather and the stitching is very pretty. And being able to add the stuffing to my liking is an extra bonus!

Amazon replaced item, but it is advertised to have no smell, which it did have a strong smell. The quality is good and im very impressed with design.. just gotta get rid of this smell.

I’ve had it for quite a while now and it’s held up great. I love the colors and the pattern. I wish it was bigger. Lol but I absolutely love it.
Christopher hansenChristopher hansen –
I’m a little disappointed. It’s definitely not what I was expecting because it’s not what it looks like in the Amazon pictures… it’s very wrinkly everywhere. Not smooth at all like pictures show. Maybe that will go away with time? It’s also very red. It doesn’t show up in pictures, pictures take the red away alot. But in person it’s way more red then it is brown. Disappointed. Glad I didn’t pay almost 200 dollars for the already stuffed one.
kathy w –
Very nicely made with a sturdy zipper. The price is in line with workmanship. The color differs from the picture (dark brown) in that it is a very reddish dark brown, not unpleasant, but not the color I was expecting. What I don’t like is the white stitching…too bold.Other than that, I’d recommend this pouf.
Marc RMarc R –
Spent a lot of time looking around at cheap alternatives. Crappy little footstools, ugly carpeted boxy looking things, etc…. So glad I found this. Craftsmanship is fantastic. A real quality product.
Alexis HearnAlexis Hearn –
I used old sheets towels and rugs to stuff mine. I need to find a few more things to make them bigger but they are amazing! These are really going to help bring the whole room décor together. Very happy. Thank you
S. J. Padden –
It even came with a leather snap thingy that I assume is meant to pull the zipper (which appears solid!), or as a bracelet…. but probably a zipper pull? Either way – bonus! Plus, it’s like storage for all my winter sweaters (and the dresses next fall). It is smaller than it looks. I think maybe they either take the pictures utilizing that highly scientific method of optical illusion and distance, or they just photoshop it in. But the reality is this would look great as a doll’s tufet. It’s just a well made product and I wish those who made it well… I want you to buy one. Go on… get that pop of color in a functional Moroccan day dream. And for all you moms and dads, this is perfect sit-by-the-tub height. No sharp corners, to boot. Giddy up.
TREX –
Happy to say the one I ordered and recieved has your basic very faint leather odor. Less than a new leather jacket. It was the black dyed one which luckily was the color I wanted but another commenter also called out that their black dyed one didn’t have any smell either. Your results may vary with another color.

I bought 2 denim blue poofs from 2 different sellers. Although both came in cloth bags and looked similar that’s where similarity ended. In photo the lighter, stuffed one is from this seller, the brighter one in bag from another seller. The one from this seller is fully lined, but from the few seams where I could see the back of the hide, it was died blue through which wasn’t the case for the other one. I also tested for dye transfer with a damp paper towel and this poof passed no transfer, which couldn’t be said with other sellers product! Definitely can see the leather is better quality and dyed better

Me encanta y compraré otro.Gracias

When I first opened this purchase I was put off by the fragrance. Not sure why fragrance was added as it wasn’t necessary.Super fast delivery! I bought the unstuffed version. I have collected a number of Standard sized guest bedroom pillows. I’m not sure why I stored half dozen plus but it was fun stuffing my new foot stool with 7, yes seven standard size pillows! It’s perfect!!

I am so impressed with the quality of the materials used in making this ottoman. The leather feels great and the edging is well done. For the price this is a great buy, after receiving it I was surprised that it didn’t cost more! It takes a lot to fill it up. I wasn’t expecting such a quality product and I am happy to recommend this vendor to anyone. It was delivered as promised and I couldn’t be more pleased.

What a gorgeous handcrafted item! The precision of the craftsmanship along with the prompt delivery proved quite impressive. I LOVE the smell of leather because it authenticates the workmanship. In fact, this item has refined and strong stitching and a hide away strong and thick zipper so that it can be stuffed without popping open. It is a work of art. And it came packaged so nicely in a pouch with a special surprise inside with a beautiful “Thank you” statement from the seller. Will be ordering again! Thank YOU Marrakesh Gallery!

The Moroccan style poof is a “collected” accessory touch to my traditional coastal decor. The workmanship is high quality. After I stuffed it with extra comforters that I had on hand, it made a comfy foot rest.

It’s beautiful and well-made. The cushion is quite lovely and comfortable. It can definitely hold *a lot* of cushioning, blankets, pillows, etc. Highly recommend.

I love the look and feel of these poufs. The stitching and zipper are solid and it overall feels well constructed. The color is gorgeous. I would recommend to really overstuff initially, and maybe keep some extra stuffing on hand for when it settles in.

I wanted a small pouf to use as a foot rest and this was perfect. I filled it with 3 throws I was not using and it provided the right amount of fullness. No smell, great workmanship and good quality leather; I would highly recommend this pouf for anyone that has space limitations. The description said “kid size” but if you are using it as a foot rest this size works.

Product exactly as described. Faint leather smell, but nothing overwhelming or funky as reported in previous reviews. I wanted a pouf I could stuff really full, and this fit the bill nicely. Sewn seams appear strong, and it has a good, sturdy metal zipper that pulled easily with the tab tucking underneath the seam so it wouldn’t scratch a wood floor.
annieannie –
I bought the cover and stuffed it with blankets and pillows which worked out very well- as it’s now being used to store extra storage space lol It’s also easy to readjust the shape once it’s sat on. It’s definitely smaller than the pictures depicted on the site. It’s good quality and comfortable to sit on or to use as a meditation cushion. Overall, I would recommend it.

I got the dark brown and it’s beautiful. There is an odor in the beginning but not so awful that I had to put it away and it’s fading with time. Quality is good for the price and love the stitching. There are a few spots on the leather but that is my only complaint

Perfect for indoors. Had on apartment balcony with only partial sun and no rain it faded very quickly. I would purchase again
DrYNWADrYNWA –
Beautiful pouf and leather seems high quality. Good product for the price. The dye does bleed. After stuffing it you might notice you have orange fingers. I wiped it down with a white paper towel. Either they used excess dye or they didn’t bond it properly. It also slightly discolors with moisture. Tried to clean a small imperfection with a little moist dap and rub, the spot is now dark even a day later (see picture). We’ll see how it ages, hopefully it develops a patina but at this price point I’m guessing it will start getting spotty and cleaning it will be risky. If they fix the dye issue then it’s a phenomenal product for the price.

I am thrilled with this product! Works great and looks beautiful. I can tell the quality is much better than a few of the more expensive covers I’ve tried in the past. Hopefully it will hold up nicely. I was a bit concerned about the “smell” comments as I’m very sensitive to smell. This cover certainly has a “smell” but it is not offensive. It smells like new leather than has been packaged. After a couple days of airing the cover out I’m happy.

Color is good, black. I did as suggested and stuffed with a bed pillow and blankets that wasn’t being used. (Had extras not being used) This worked just fine. Stuffing would have been too expensive. Might as well buy the one that is already stuffed. I like foot stool very much.

Much more artesanal, finely stitched and durable than expected. Very beautiful, mine is dark green and the color matched the samples. I stuffed mine with nearly 50 lbs of old towels and blankets and it’s great to sit on or rest feet on. Looks and feels great.

Carolyn S. Curry –
I really like the pouf I ordered, especially the color. I only wished I could have known how many bags of stuffing I needed in order to make it firm. I ordered one initially, and then I ordered 2 more. So, for me I needed a total of 3 bags to make the pouf firm.
Amazon Customer –
Quality of this pouf is what I would expect to pay at least twice as much for. Leather is high quality, no imperfections, and stored three large queen sized blankets and a quilt which were cluttering my closet. Great solution for extra storage while also being a useful and attractive piece of furniture. Only drawback as others have commented is the zipper not having some form of cover so it does not scratch floors. Definitely rug only.
